He was predeceased by: his parents, Sam Vanderwerf and Goldie Vanderwerf (Hunt); his wife Thelma (Hansen); and his siblings, Lucille Hansen, Lillian Rudin, Gene, Wallace, Maxine D'Elia, Shirley Culp, Thomas, Sara Nolby and Wilbert.
He is survived by: his children, Linda (Ed Thoma) and Mark (Wendy); his grandchildren, Justin Vanderwerf (Amanda Dempsey), Jordyn Darnell (Chuck), Ashlee Kleveland (Chris), Tyler Nelson (Emily Tischleder) and Kaitlyn Nelson (Logan McGrath); his great grandchildren, Dakota Vanderwerf, KJ and Janey Kleveland; Cindy Wilkie. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other extended family.
In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to Peace Lutheran Church.
