He was predeceased by: his father Richard Pugel; his aunt Annette; his godparents, Diane and Greg Dettlaff; and his aunt Ann Pugel.

He is survived by: his mother Esther Pugel; his children, Joseph, Joshua and Allison; his sister Carrie Smith (Mike); and his sibling's children, Andie Maas (Steven) and Sam Smith.
