He was predeceased by : his parents, Howard and Rosemary; his brother Jerry; his grandson-in-law Rubert Retzlaff; and his great grandchild Dirk Tyler Stanke.

He is survived by : his wife Kay; his children, Barbara, Christine Stanke (Robert), Jennifer Coughlin (Cory) and Jerry (Michele); his grandchildren, Dustin Stanke (Wilma), Dylan Stanke (Juanita), Sami, Mary Retzlaff, Lauren, Avery, Evan Glissendorft, Emma and Charles Coughlin; and his great grandchildren, Cecilia Rose Stanke, Elsie Claire Stanke and Stanke Twins.
