He was predeceased by: his parents, Inez Borcherding and John Borcherding; and his sister Ruby VonRuden (Jack). He is survived by: his wife Elsa Oliversen Borcherding; his children, Eric Lyleson (Catherine Robertson), Jan Smith (Bill) and Bonnie Freeburg (Larry); his grandchildren, Bonnie Smith (Robert Martin), Izzy Smith (Matt Johnson), Karen Richardson (Jeremy), Kimi Olson (Jon), Laura Smith (Pete Febbraro), Will Smith (Ruth), Ryan Freeburg (Betsy), Jesse Lyleson, Sarah Smith (Ryan Krzos), Ben Smith (Anna), Rainee Lyleson and Lily Robertson; and his extended family Lisa Peers. He is also survived by his 14 great-grandchildren and the many friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 6th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Presbyterian Church of Novato.
