David, born on November 27, 1936, was part of many shared moments and relationships throughout life. He was predeceased by: his parents, Rev. Paul F. Hartmann and Herma Hartmann (Kammerer); his wife Bonnie Helmke Rosche; his stepson Gary Rosche; his grandson Shawn Hartmann; and his brothers-in-law, James Helmke (Jill), Jack Helmke (Barbara) and Robert Helmke.
He is survived by: his children, David W. Hartmann (Laurie) of Sheboygan, Paul Hartmann of Alaska and Heather Shearer (Jim) of Alaska; his stepchildren, Lawrence Rosche (Martha) of Plymouth, Daryl Rosche (Yvonne) of Hewitt, WI, Gerald "Joe" Rosche (Tricia) of Kaukauna and Therese Schwab (Allan Zimmer) of Rural Cedar Grove; his sister Elaine Kirby (Jim) of St. Louis, Missouri; and his brother-in-law William Helmke (Laurie) of Plymouth. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, many great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 26th 2026 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church (509 Milwaukee Ave, Cascade, WI 53011). A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 26th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in David's name.
