He was predeceased by: his mother Lois (Dotzauer); his stepfather John Howe; and his parents-in-law, Joyce Stevens-Yakel and Phillip Yakel. He is survived by: his wife Barbara; his children, Julie Adriansjach (Pram), Brett Dotzauer, Michelle Lucas (Jeff) and Tony Wittemann (Krystal); his grandchildren, Riann Adriansjach, Jordan (Mikaela Lucas), Isaac Lucas, Alexandria, Danielle and Jessica Kompsi-Wittemann; his great grandchild Vinnie; his mother-in-law Germaine "Gerri" Yakel; his half-brother Craig Howe; and his siblings-in-law, Julie Hoffmann and Mark Yakel (Lori). He is also survived by nieces, nephews.
