He is survived by: his children, Patrick Gilkes of Oshkosh, WI, Timothy of Prairie du Chien, Julie Gilkes of Prairie du Chien and Jeffrey Gilkes of Madison, WI; and his grandchildren, Jason, Cory and Kasey.
