He was predeceased by: his parents, Aloysius Gillitzer and Anna Gillitzer (McNamara); his wife Norma Check; his siblings, Agnes Gillitzer, Loretta Check, Rita Lester, Catherine McGrath, Anna Marie Lathrop, Bernard and Eugene Gillitzer; and his son-in-law David Jensen.
He is survived by: his children, Russel (Sheila), Phyllis Wesener (Dave), Joseph (Teresa), Robert, Donna, Mary Stoeffler (Kenneth), Janet Nelson (Brian), Diane Koenig (Jon) and Elaine Jensen; and his brother Roger Gillitzer (Janice). He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Bridgeport-Prairie du Chien Fire Dept. and Auxiliary or Crossing Rivers Hospice.
