He was predeceased by : his parents, George Carpenter and Arline Carpenter (Bills); his brothers, George Jr. and Neal; his father-in-law Dean Schell; and his stepfather-in-law Claude Mazerek.

He is survived by : his wife Kathy Schell; his children, Shawn Schell (Tiffany Baker), Cassandra Carpenter and Samantha Huelsing (Ryan); his grandchildren, Jack, Hank Schell, Bransyn Carpenter, Herschel Huelsing, Johnathan and Ashlynn Hannah; his siblings, Peggy Maier, Roger Carpenter (Deanna), Gayle Vosen (Paul) and Amy Carpenter; his mother-in-law Gladys Mazerek; and his pet Opie. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews' other relatives and friends.
