He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward and Adeline; his siblings, Jim, Ed Nelson and Debra Nelson; and his brother-in-law Bill Holton.
He is survived by: his family Daniel John Nelson; his significant other Julie Nelson (Kroes); his children, Austin Nelson (Shelley) and Kristine Schwartz (Nathan); his grandchildren, Emilie Dyer (Jon) of Racine, Wisconsin., Austin Nelson Jr. of Racine, Wisconsin., Elizabeth Nelson of Racine, Wisconsin., Kayla Schwartz (Scott Blume Jr.) of Racine, Wisconsin. and Tyler Schwartz of Racine, Wisconsin.; his great grandchildren, James and Nicole Dyer; his siblings, Kathy Holton, Virginia Belshaw (Bob) of Rosemont Minnesota and Steve Nelson (Kim) of Marinette Wisconsin; his sisters-in-law, Gretchen Nelson and Kathryn Nelson; and his in-laws, Sharon Kroes, Diane, Randy Kroes (Joann), Debbie Roeder (Jim), Jeanne Kroes and Ron Kroes.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 6th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the CDT Maresh-Meredith & Acklam Funeral Home (803 Main St, Racine, WI 53403). A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 6th 2025 at 5:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital or Safe Haven Pet Sanctuary have been suggested.
