He was predeceased by: his parents, Mavis Strong and James Strong Sr.; his brothers, Clyde and Wayne Strong; his nephews, Antonio Strong and Darnell Davidson; and his close friend Shirley Chester.

He is survived by: his daughters, Jamie Strong and Roxie Finley; his brothers, Lee (Francine) and Samuel Strong; and his siblings' children, Tyrone Strong, Jessica (David), Byron Strong, Myles Phillips and Myles Strong.
