She was predeceased by: her parents, Roy and Anne; and her niece Emily Oess. She is survived by: her sisters, Monica Oess (George) and Julie Freres (John); her siblings' children, Ryan Freres, Andrew Freres (Katie), Daniel Freres (Jacinda), Jonathan Oess and Andrea Oess; and her great-nieces and great-nephews, Ethan, Gavin, Jameson, Eloise, Emma and Maya. She is also survived by her loving nieces and nephews.

“Monica, Julie and Families, I just learned of Kathy’s passing. I sent her a Christmas card and it was returned,, so figured out something had happened. I found her obituary online. My deepest sympathy to you and your families. Good memories with Kathy and Melissa. When my boys were young we went camping with them and always played some sport game. My boys are 53 and 50 now. Our son took after Melissa and is a physical education teacher. Going on 26 years.. We have four grandchildren.”
