He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilbur Mae and Edna Mae; his wife Susan P. Smith; his sister Julie Tangerstrom; his in-laws, Paul and Nellie Smith; and his brother-in-law J. David Smtih.
He is survived by: his daughters, Bethany Ann Heitman (Kevin), Sarah Lynn Tangerstrom (Dan Metzker) and Dozer; his sister-in-law Nancy Smith; his niece Melissa Taggart; his great-nieces, Taylor Baker (Jon) and Meghann Taggart; his brothers, Tom Gavahan and Jim Wampole; his caregivers, Tracy Pirk and Toni Cannady; Amos, Waylon Baker and Raelynn Taggart.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 16th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Thursday, September 17th 2026 at 9:00 AM. A funeral service was held on Thursday, September 17th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the Life Lutheran Church (2921 Olive St, Racine, WI 53403).
In memory of Scott, memorials to Racine Fire Bells, Water of Life Lutheran Church, or the family (for disbursement to Scott's favorite charities) have been suggested.
