We announce the death of Helen Catherine Burkel (Random Lake, Wisconsin), who passed away on October 13, 2026, at the age of 95. She was predeceased by: her parents, Anthony Steinmetz and Irene Steinmetz (Mueller); her husband Gerald Burkel; her son Anthony; and her brothers, Nicholas, Eugene and Charles Steinmetz.
She is survived by: her children, Annette Brown (Bill) of Ashland, WI, Gail Burkel of Port Washington and James Burkel (Pam) of Cedar Grove; her grandson Tyler DeVillers; her great grandchildren, Krisstopher DeVillers and Douglas Groom; her stepgrandchildren, Adam Leppla (Bailey) and Jessica Regan (Devon); her stepgreat-grandchildren, Myles Leppla, Quinn Regan and Camryn Regan; and her sisters-in-law, Jan and Beverly Steinmetz. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, October 21st 2026 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the St. Nicholas Catholic Church (w4274 Co Hwy K, Random Lake, WI 53075). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, October 21st 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested in Helen's name to the VFW for Cancer Aid and Research.
