He was predeceased by: his parents, Julian Onate and Madeline Onate (Ruiz); his wife Carol H. Lempa; his stepson Larry Grygiel; his sister Ruth Chambers; and his brothers-in-law, Jospeh Calderone and Joseph "Bud" Salata.
He is survived by: his daughter Lisa Onate; his siblings, Maxine "Bunny" Calderone, Vivian Del Priore (Richard), Delores Onate (Tom Crowhurst), Marcus Onate and Mary "Lisa" Pallozzi (Walter); and his siblings-in-law, Ann Salata and Joe Lempa. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends.
