He was predeceased by: his parents, Magnus Eliason and Alice Eliason (Weinhardt). He is survived by: his wife Jeanie Herold; his son James Eliason Jr. (Barb); his grandchildren, Anaka and Landen; his nieces and nephews, Barb Durand (Paul), Carmen Wabbe (Mark), LuAnn Frederickson (Greg), Martha Eckerline, Karyn Schuler (Michael), Mark Eliason (Heidi) and Doug Otto; and his siblings, Maxine Otto (Wally) and Don Eliason (Mary). He is also survived by many other family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to First Lutheran Church.
