He was predeceased by: his father Glenn Hunter; and his mother-in-law Clareen Nyquist. He is survived by: his wife Jody Nyquist; his children, Sean Hunter (Lauren McCoy), Matthew Hunter, Molly Hunter and Megan Hunter (Ben Loving); his grandson Kieran Hunter; his mother Patricia Hunter; his father-in-law Jeremy Nyquist; his siblings, Dan Hunter (Mary), Nancy Hunter Corbett (Stephen), Jim Hunter (Joanne Wolfe) and Cheryl Frank-Murray; his sister-in-law Mary Nyquist Koons (James); his nieces and nephews, Jeremy Koons (Vanessa), Max Hunter, Will Hunter, Hunter Corbett (Nicole), James Corbett (Claudia), Morgan Clayton (Cody), Emma Hunter-Sofios (Manny) and Sadie Hunter; and his former wives, Pam Mitchell (Tom), Sue Hunter, Pam Dilley and Sue Smedberg. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
