He was predeceased by: his parents, David Yates, Sr. and Eulalie "Lee" Yates (Clark); and his siblings, David Yates, Jr., Reverend Milton Clark Yates and Mary Lee Yates.

He is survived by: his wife Carol Yates (Kolder); his children, Kelly Haslam (John), Jenny Flath (Donnie) and Christy Gumtz (Nick); and his grandchildren, Jacob, Isaac, Lizzy, Hannah, Michael, Jack, Zander and Dominic.
