He was predeceased by: his parents, Alden Kanz and Harriet Kanz (Barteck); his parents-in-law, Cornelius (Agnes) and Emmeline Buteyn; his siblings, Darlene Kohls, John Kanz and Darwin Kanz (Elvira); and his siblings-in-law, Neal Buteyn, Larry Kappers, June DeBoer (Bill), Ruth Ramaker (Ron) and Fran TeRonde.

He is survived by: his friend Dennis; his wife Nedra Buteyn; his sons, Michael Kanz (Janelle) of Sheboygan Falls and Jeff Kanz (Marissa) of Tampa, Florida; his grandchildren, Dennis, Larissa, Samuel, Ian, Shawn (Athena), Matthew and Raegan; his siblings, Kenneth Kanz (Ruth), Harold Kanz (Helen), Barbara Genske (Gary) and Cheryl Stranberg (Paul); and his siblings-in-law, Carol Kanz, Helen Buteyn, Alvina DeBoer, Marcia Modahl (Don), Jean Kappers, Shirley Hilbelink and Jack Kohls (Jean). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Memorials are appreciated in Dennis' name to Breakwater Church in Sheboygan or the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight.
