He was predeceased by: his parents, William Heitzmann and Delores Grunow Heitzmann; his wife Evelyn R. Federer; his siblings, Susan, Herbert and Ronald; and his brothers-in-law, Robert Seibel and Roland Fischer.

He is survived by: his children, Brandon McDaniel, James Heitzmann and Ashley Heitzmann (Scott Chiminatti); his grandchildren, Raelyn Chiminatti and Veralee Erdmann; his siblings, Beatrice Seibel (Robert) of Sheboygan, Sandra Fischer of Sheboygan, JoAnn Garica (Antonio) of Sheboygan, Linda Kreutz (Jim) of Sheboygan, Barbara (John) of Sheboygan, Larry (Kathy) of Sheboygan, Arleigh (Kathy) of Sheboygan and Richard Heitzmann (Shari); his stepchildren, Carrie, Eric and Denise Peaine; his foster parents, Garrit Ledeboer and Muriel Ledeboer; and his stepbrother Todd Ledeboer. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
