She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles Schommer and Gladys Meyer Schommer. She is survived by: her husband James E. Nelson; her sons, Timothy Nelson (Julie) of Sheboygan and Andrew Nelson (Angela) of Sheboygan Falls; her grandchildren, Tyler, Joshua and Alivia; her brother James Schommer (Barbara); her niece Janell Romnek (Rob) of Grafton; her siblings-in-law, Jeffery Nelson (Carmenza) of Sheboygan, Judith Hayon (Bill) of Sheboygan and Jean Kuznacic (Denny) of Sheboygan Falls; and her close friends, Betty Kroll (Dick), Kathy Nack (Dick), Joanne Kyrsak (Jerry) and Joanne Menzer (Bob). She is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Karen's name.
