He was predeceased by: his brother Andrew Ertel; his grandparents, Richard Ertel, Shirley Zastrow (Ed), Omar and Gladys Boeselager; his uncle Ruben Oppermann; and his cousins, David and Steven Boeselager.

He is survived by: his parents, Teresa Ertel and Steven Ertel; his aunts and uncles, Mike, Allie Boeselager of Maribel, WI and Pat Smith (Jim) of Kewaskum, WI.; and his cousins, Adam Boeselager (Lyndsey), Stephanie Lewis (Ross), Nicole Hiatt (Doug) and Ruben Oppermann (Rachel Conway). He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 21st 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Sheboygan Evangelical Free Church (1710 N 15th St, Sheboygan, WI 53081). A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 21st 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
