He was predeceased by: his father Paul Richard; his son Nathaniel; and his former wife Paige Carrie Smith. He is survived by: his mother Cleta Joyce Harder (Egan); his siblings, Dave Harder (Lesa) and Joanna Harder Marriott (Dean); his daughter Hannah Harder-Chancellor (Evan); and his grandchildren, Tim Harder (Erin Maxwell) and Carrie Beckwith (Ehren). He is also survived by five nephews.
His final wish was to donate tissues and will be benefiting neurological research at The Harvard Brain Bank because even in death he ultimately wished first and foremost to ease suffering and further knowledge. A celebration of reading and book donation event has been planned in memorium, date forthcoming.
