He was predeceased by: his parents, Bernard Schesel and Delphine Schesel (Eslinger); his parents-in-law, LeRoy and Lucy Brenner; and his brother-in-law Allen Setzer.

He is survived by: his wife Judith Schesel; his children, Jeff Schesel (Bonnie), Farron Schesel (Holly), Holly Winkler (Ryan) and Sherri Drozd (Dave); his grandchildren, Eli Winkler, Eva, Ella, Emma Schesel, Jaryn, Janelle, Jaella, Jayce, Jake, Jason Schesel, Kayla Wanta (Cody) and Autumn Drozd; his great grandchildren, Bentley and Chase Wanta; and his sisters, Jeanine Setzer, June Mnikolaicik (Louie) and Jerry Brenner (Candy). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
