He was predeceased by: his parents, John Makowski and Laura Makowski (Vondale); his brother John Makowski (Helen); his nieces, Barbara and Jeanie; and his sisters, Margaret Makowski and Lorriane Herzer (Henry).

He is survived by: his sister Lois; his niece Debbie; and his nephews, Mike and Brian.
