He was predeceased by: his parents, David Brown and Betty Gruenberg Brown; and his wives, Kathleen L. "Kathy" Brown and Bonnie J. Brown. He is survived by: his siblings, Mary Vinson (late Howard), Douglas Brown (Bonnie) and Gregory Brown (late Leslie).

Steve's contribution to the department went far beyond the titles he held.
