He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Handel and Imogene Handel (Anderson); his granddaughter Madyson Nicole Louise Handel; his parents-in-law, Joseph and Lizzie Weger; and his daughter-in-law Jessica Skolaski.
He is survived by: his wife Thelma Weger; his children, Todd Handel (Cali), Robby Skolaski, Becky Sorum (Tony), Troy Handel (Sabrina), Michelle Handel (Gage Abrahams), Don Handel (Dianna Johnson) and Mike Handel (Pat); and his brother Rodney Handel (Gail). He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
