He was predeceased by: his parents, Lynn Curtis and Martha (Odd Gerstad); his wife Gerry Mason; his daughter Jill Mason; his siblings, John Gerstad and Eleanor Luedke; and his sons-in-law, Tom Lepinski and Dale Hutter.
He is survived by: his daughters, Lisa Hutter and Jan Mason; and his granddaughters, Alicia Hutter, Jessica Hutter and Samantha Smilgis (Frank). He is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 12th 2026 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at the Cress Funeral & Cremation Service - Madison (3610 Speedway Rd, Madison, WI 53705). A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 12th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Cress Funeral Home (3610 Speedway Rd, Madison, WI 53705). The military honors will be held on Friday, October 16th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Forest Hill Cemetery (1 Speedway Rd, Madison, WI 53705).
