With profound sadness, we say goodbye to James R. Alling in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Alling and Dorothy Alling; his former wife Diane Alling; and his brothers-in-law, Casper Yaun and Dick Goold.

He is survived by: his wife Sandra "Sandy" Alling of Madison; his children, David Alling (Kim) of Belleville, Dan Alling (Karen Milici) of Madison, Lori Alling of Seattle and Vicki Alling of Madison; his siblings, Ruth Yaun of Oregon, Sharon Brown (John Annen) of Monona and Dale Alling (Urlene) of Virginia; and his siblings-in-law, Sally Soltis (Larry) of Mount Horeb, Denise Miller of Madison, Steve Goold (Elizabeth) of Missouri and Jeff Miller of Cottage Grove. He is also survived by five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 29th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Gunderson East Funeral & Cremation Care (5203 Monona Dr, Monona, WI 53716). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 29th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM at the same location. The military honors will be held on Wednesday, October 29th 2025 from 11:45 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 30th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:10 AM at the Greenwood Cemetery (N1442 WI-22, Arlington, WI 53911).
