He was predeceased by: his parents, Dorothy Carlson and Ludwig Carlson; and his siblings, Ludwig Carlson, Jr., Caroline Kuhlman, Glen Carlson and Lyman Carlson.
He is survived by: his daughter Caroline Wallin of Duluth; his grandchildren, Misty Hoyt of Solon Springs, Eric Hoyt of Superior and Henry Hoyt of Hawthorne; his stepgranddaughters, Natalya Andrea Mills (Hoyt) and Brianna Meghan Hoyt; and his great grandchildren, Dustin Malec, Lily Malec Hoyt and Kaelin McDunnin Hoyt. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
