He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Johnson and Amelia Johnson (Asplund); his wife Janice Schuettpelz; his siblings, Joyce Gardebrecht Bruni and Harold Johnson; and his siblings-in-law, Ernie Buchholz, Emil Gardebrecht, Marvin Bruni, Joyce Timm-Witthuhn and Lucille Schuettpelz.
He is survived by: his children, David Johnson (Deborah), Susan Johnson and Debra Zahn (Brett); his grandchildren, Kaylee Luebke (Tim), Kyle Johnson, Derek Zahn (Savannah) and Brian Zahn; his great grandchild Amelia Luebke; his sister Ruby Buchholz; and his brother-in-law Rodger Schuettpelz. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Leonard's memory to Mount Olive Lutheran Church or the Suring Fire Department.
