It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Walter Phillip Bender Sr. of Tomah, Wisconsin, who passed away on June 26, 2025, at the age of 97, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Jacob Bender and Katerina'Katie' Bender (Schock); his siblings, Edward, Alvin, Aaron, Lenore (Greer), Otillie (Leppert), Arline (Lutgen), Harold, Ralph, Rachel (Young), Hilda (Braun) and Ruthie (Matzek); his siblings-in-law, Alton Greer, Kermit Leppert, Al Lutgen, Red Braun, Mix Young, May Bender, Mary Bender, LaVern Richardson and Judy Richardson; his children-in-law, Peggy Bender and Jim Peaslee; his granddaughter Lisa Peaslee; his great grandchild Lindsey Knickerbocker; and his grandchild Tre Ross.
He is survived by: his friend Arnie Schroeder; his wife Virginia; his children, Sherieda Bender-Peaslee, Walter Bender, Jr., Shanna Bender and Sabrina Cuellar Ross (Rick); his grandchildren, Kim Knickerbocker (Danny Fabeck), Tristan Ross (Alyssa), Austin Ross (Kayla), Walter Bender, III, Wayne Bender (Carlee), Wesley Bender, Alejandrina Higgins (Sam) and Jacob Bender; and his siblings-in-law, James Matzek, Glen Richardson, Lawrence Richardson (Sharon Rae) and Gleneda Muralt. He is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild.
