He was predeceased by: his parents, Jacob Ryen and Gertrude Van Ryen (Loka); his sister Marsha; his brother-in-law Dan Johnson; and his great-niece Amanda Hilgendorf.
He is survived by: his wife Kathleen Van Ryen (Cordova); his children, Elizabeth Burdick (Jeffrey) and Matthew Van Ryen (Hanna); his grandchildren, Myles, Ian, Connor, Wyatt, Cale and Cole; and his siblings, Phyllis Weizenicker (Tom), Carol Johnson, Mary Lou Nelson (Paul), New London, Jean Hanson (Mike), Susie Petersen (Terry) of Rio, WI, Karen Schiltz (Kevin), Jim (Marie) and Jeff Van Ryen (Marianne). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made in memory of Jay to St Mary's Catholic School in Tomahawk or All Saints Catholic School in Antigo where Jay's grandsons attend school.
