He was predeceased by: his parents, Lavern Auer and Margaret Auer (Slaby); his brother Jim Auer; and his brother-in-law Mark Smick. He is survived by: his children, Todd Auer (Kimberly Olson), Bruce Auer (Kimberly Duell) and Debra Auer; his wife Kathie Kopp; his grandchildren, PJ Auer (Kassi), Alyssa Weisenberger (Nick Schaffner), Brayden Kerchal (Noah), Nicole Auer (Dylan Fluekiger), Konor Bork (Cody), Aspen Auer (Chase Percival), Clay Gardener, Kamren Kinser (Nicholas), Ethan Auer and Cole Auer; his great grandchildren, Rowan, Corbyn, Axl, Brixton, Baylor and Lennon; his sister Nancy Smick (Auer); and his sister-in-law Lena Auer.
A celebration of life was held on Tuesday, July 22nd 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the St Bartholomew Parish Hall (11646 South St, Trempealeau, WI 54661).
