He is survived by: his wife Gladys; his children, David Hakala (Julie) and Suzanne Hakala; his grandchildren, Ryan (Ryli) and Allison (Charles); his great grandchild Dean; and his sister Cheryl Terzis (David). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
