With profound sadness, we say goodbye to John Winkelman of Verona, Wisconsin, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. John left this world on May 11, 2026 at the age of 75, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Winkelman and Gladys Winkelman (Weisensel); his brother David Winkelman; his in-laws, Henry and Olga Weiss; his brother-in-law Karl Weiss; and his nephew James "Jimmy" Winkelman Jr..
He is survived by: his wife Edeltraut "Trouti" Winkelman; his daughters, Shay Sartorius (Andrew) of Prairie du Sac and Sara Quigle (Matthew) of Madison; his grandchildren, Colton, Otto Quigle and Regan Sartorius; his brothers, James Winkelman (Sally) of Verona and Robert Winkelman (Julie) of New Glarus; and his caregivers, Davidson House and Janessa. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 20th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Ryan Funeral Home- Legacy Center (6728 Mader Dr, Madison, WI 53719). A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, May 20th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Research Fund at the University of Iowa.
