He was predeceased by: his parents, Frederick Gerdl and Ethel Gerdl (Tangen); his brother Warren Somerfeld; and his brother-in-law Armin Sloane. He is survived by: his wife Lorraine Haakenstad; his children, Michelle Evans (Robert) and Richard Gerdl; his grandchildren, Luke Evans and Heather Berman (Matt); his great grandchildren, Aubrey, Hannah and Christian C. K.; his sister Alice Sloane; and his sister-in-law Jan Somerfeld. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
