He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Schauer and Margeret Schauer (Fischer); his in-laws, Henry and Dorothy Sterwald; his son-in-law David Schaefer; his granddaughter Samantha Kemmerling; and his siblings, Kenneth, Laverne Schauer, Marion Pearce, Victor Schoenike, Roger Wagner, Jack, Jane Becker, Jean, Tony Kohn, Dick Sterwald, Tom, Sally Sterwald, Francis Kehr and Marion Kehr.
He is survived by: his children, Shari Schaefer, Lisa Riggs (Ken), Peter Schauer (Jamie) and Vicki Kemmerling (Dan); his grandchildren, Eric Schaefer (Sara), Kyle Schaefer (Ashley), Nicole Cunha (Carlos), Stephanie Fehrman (Dan), Heather Barker (Tyler), Emily, Sam Hanson, DJ Kemmerling (Sabrina Timm) and Cassidy Kemmerling; his great grandchildren, Kolton Riedl, Parker, Kinsley Schaefer, Evelyn, Hunter, Marcos Cunha, Angel Cardozo-Fendt, Benjamin, Isabella Barker and Jade Moser; his sister Ruth Schoenike; and his sister-in-law Carol Sterwald. He is also survived by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Rainbow Hospice or the charity of one's choice in Dad's memory.
