Ethel Mae (Bast) Schumann Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Ethel Mae (Bast) Schumann of Watertown, Wisconsin, who passed away on December 12, 2025 at the age of 97. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, John Bast and Martha Bast of Watertown, Wisconsin.; her husband John Schumann of John's Lutheran Church; her sister Carol Fischer (Bast); her siblings-in-law, David Fischer, Clarence Schumann, Ray Schumann, Lucille Schumann and Norma Schumann; and her nephew Richard Schumann.

She is survived by: her children, Marcia Schumann-McMaher (Rob), Jeff Schumann (Sherri) and Sandy Papendieck (Marc); her brother Jack Bast (Carole); her grandchildren, Venessa Baliruno (Eric), Kristin McMaher, Cari-Kate Schumann-McMaher, Danny Schumann (Haley), Chris Schumann (Jessica), Stephanie Vander Weil (Bren), Nick Papendieck and Alissa Prater (Aaron); and her great grandchildren, Patrick, Robert, Imani, Reece, Grant, Blair, Everleigh, Ellianna, Catherine, Ivy, Georgette, Winnie, Penelope and Juniper.

In lieu of flowers, memorials will be directed to Sheboygan's Bookwork Gardens or Stephanie H. Weill Center.
