He was predeceased by: his parents, Frederick Krings and Mary Krings; and his siblings, Phyllis Pempeck, Willis, Don, Orville and Norbert.

He is survived by: his wife Patricia Quinn (Pat); his children, Sally Elftman (Bryan) and Terry; his grandchildren, Kyle Elftman (Melissa) and Jamie Busse (David); his great grandchildren, Fred and Walter Elftman; his siblings, Viola Dost, Elgin and Kenny Krings; and his siblings-in-law, Myrt Krings, Helen Krings, Gary Quinn (Cynthia), Margie Nerison (Ron), Peggy Mabie, Lee Quinn and Wayne Mabie.
