He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Backhaus; his children, David Backhaus, Mark Backhaus, Edward Lyon, Margo Bennett (Mark) and Margaret Leitinger (Dave); his grandchildren, David Helm-Lyon, Chester Lyon, Ward Lyon (Vanessa), Taylor Leitinger (Michelle), Chad Leitinger (Ashly), Joleen Backhaus, Deanna McCaffery (Colt), Renee Thok (Mading), Kyle Leitinger and John Bennett; and his great grandchildren, Allyana Oliver, Torin Teubel, Lyla Lyon, Shaylyn Helm-Lyon, Simon Leitinger and Jazmine Thok.
