He was predeceased by: his parents, John "Jack" Smart and Helen Smart; his siblings, Mary Black, Barb Buth (Arch) and Bob Smart; his sister-in-law Ann; his parents-in-law, Ted and Irene Oettinger; and his siblings-in-law, Lee Oettinger and Jean Oettinger.
He is survived by: his wife Laurie Smart (Oettinger); his son Dave Smart; his siblings, John Smart (Holly) and Sally Cherek; and his sister-in-law Peg Oettinger. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
