He was predeceased by: his parents, Dean Carpenter and Virginia Carpenter. He is survived by: his wife Sharon Clough of Waukesha; his children, Betsy Carpenter-Pelkofer (Jeff) of Franklin, Steve Carpenter (Connie) of Clintonville, Todd Carpenter (Bonnie) of Idyllwild, CA and Shannon Seegmiller of Wittenberg; his grandchildren, Zachary Carpenter (Amber), Madeline, Adam Pelkofer, Taylor, Caitlin, Matthew, Lindsy Carpenter, Finneas, Quinnlyn Carpenter, Henry, Joseph and George Seegmiller; his brothers, Donald Carpenter (Donna), Dennis Carpenter (Christine) and David Carpenter (Donna); and his sister-in-law Barbara Clough. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and loving friends.
