James R. Schmitz Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James R. Schmitz (Waunakee, Wisconsin), who passed away on July 15, 2025, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Sylvester Schmitz and Norma Ella Lexa Schmitz (Wendorff); his brother John; and his in-laws, Maxine and Lincoln Marty.
He is survived by: his wife Linda Marty; his caregiver Linda Marty Schmitz; his children, Lori Schmitz (Peter Bergmann), Scott Schmitz (Kara) and Mike Schmitz (Cindy); his grandchildren, Javier Flores and Alexa Hayes (Tanner); his children, Quinn Schmitz (Christine), Molly Schmitz, Emily Schmitz, Ryan Schmitz, Samantha Schmitz, Gabrielle Schmitz, Victoria Schmitz and Josephine Schmitz; and his brothers-in-law, Allan Marty and Steve Marty (Kathy).
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 24th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday, July 25th 2025 at 9:30 AM. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 25th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Peace Lutheran Church (701 S Century Ave, Waunakee, WI 53597). A celebration of life will be held on Friday, July 25th 2025 at 1:00 PM at 301 N Century Ave, Waunakee, WI 53597.
In lieu of flowers, the family will designate memorials.
