He was predeceased by : his father Svend Sorensen; his wife Dorothy; his daughter Deborah Sorensen; and his stepbrothers, Elmer and Chester.

He is survived by : his son Stephen Sorensen; his stepsons, Stephen Schlafer (Sheryl) and Michael Schlafer; his sister Janet Larsen (Charles); and his close friend Jo Ann Wetherbee. He is also survived by grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
