He was predeceased by : his grandparents, Samuel, Harriet Sims, Roger and Cecelia Marten. He is survived by : his parents, Melvin Sims and Bonnie Sims (Marten) of Wausau; his son Jaxon; his brother Nicholas (Jennifer Martin); his niece Amelia; his uncles, Rick and Gordy (Adam); and his aunt Sue. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in being established for his son, Jaxon.
