Doris E. Bauer Obituary

Doris E. Bauer (Wegner) of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, a loving wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, neighbor and friend passed on to eternal life at her home of 73 years at the age of 103 on July 2, 2025.

She was born in the Town of Grant, Wisconsin on September 14, 1921 to Albert and Ella Wegner (Riege). After spending her childhood on the farm and graduating from Marion High School she left for the big city of Milwaukee.

While employed at Allis Chalmers she met her loving husband Milton to whom she was married for over 66 years. They were blessed with three children, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Doris and Milton became members of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in 1955. Together with her husband, Doris has been faithful in worship, Bible Study and Christian Service. She was an active member of the Currie Park Garden Club.

After raising her family, she returned to the workforce at Kohl's corporate offices eventually retiring in the 1980's. She loved spending time with family and friends while taking in the beauty of God's creation by partaking in activities like tending to her garden (especially her roses), or playing card games like sheepshead and Uno. Many memories are intertwined with her cooking and baking like her renowned schaum torte (timed to Wheel of Fortune), apple and pecan pies and Christmas cookies. She enjoyed the arts particularly watercoloring and sewing. She loved to travel. She and Milton went to Europe twice, and visited all but three states in the USA: Alaska, Mississippi and Louisiana.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband Milton, her parents and all of her siblings, Art (Mildred), William (Helen), Herb, Luella, Elmer (Adeline), Dan (June). She is survived by her children : Susan, Michael and Jean (Thomas) O'Connell; also by seven grandchildren: Bonnie (Vlad) Gidzak, Ben (Heather) Bauer, Nick Bauer, Jean (Dan) Benz, Cindy (Dave) Triscari, Tomás O'Connell and Mike O'Connell; also by three great grandchildren Peregrine Gidzak, Calvin Triscari and Cooper Triscari.
