He was predeceased by: his parents, Milton Mertzig and Viola Mertzig; his wife Lynn Turner; and his sister Geraldine Paape. He is survived by: his children, TinaMarie Olig (Christopher), Guy Mertzig (Angela), Danielle Mertzig, Lance Mertzig (Abi), Christopher Mertzig (Kayla), Robert Mertzig (Chelsea) and Rob Abel (Jackie); and his siblings, Milton Mertzig, Jr. and Kathleen Schroeder. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Sunday, August 30th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral & Cremation Service - West Bend (1315 W Washington St, West Bend, WI 53095). A memorial service was held on Sunday, August 30th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location.
