He was predeceased by: his wife Kathleen Diels (Kay); his son-in-law Patrick Marshalek; and his parents, Verna Diels (Bohn) and John Henry Diels. He is survived by: his siblings, Richard Diels, Joyce Diels and Carol Fuchs (Diels); his children, Christine Erickson (Ralph), Beth Harrison (Todd), Rhonda Heisdorf (Ken), Tracey Walters (Todd), Gail Marshalek, Janie Diels (William Gorton) and Jim Diels; and his grandchildren, Thomas, Elisabeth, Emma Erickson, Cody, Graeme, Georgia Harrison, Brianne, Riley, Kallie Heisdorf, Jacob, Katie-Jo, Nicholas Walters, Emily, Grace, Abigail, Tyler Marshalek, Jake and Martha Gorton.
