He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Stern and Mathilda Stern; his wife Eleanor; his daughter Kathy Fies; and his siblings, Harold "Schnooky" Stern, Evelyn Uelmen and Delores Petry.
He is survived by: his children, Sharon Straub (Dennis), Sue Funk (Tom), Sandy Justman (Randy) and Jim Stern (Edna); his son-in-law Dale Fies; and his stepson Gary Hahn (Bonnie). He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
